26 March 2026

Dear Residents,

Strathfield warmly welcomed 92 new Australian citizens at Council’s citizenship ceremony at Strathfield Town Hall last week! 22 countries were represented by the Conferees, and it was very special and heartwarming to see individuals of all ages, and large families choosing to officially call Australia and Strathfield home. Welcome to you all!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Harmony Day last Saturday. The event hosted by the Strathfield Multicultural Advisory Committee celebrated the cultural diversity of Strathfield through a vibrant line-up of performances. It was truly a multicultural showcase demonstrating the theme ‘Everyone Belongs’. See the events calendar on our website for more upcoming events.

COMMUNITY UPDATE

Meet Strathfield's Citizen of the Year 2026 Dinesh Garg

Wow, what a surprise! For a person who prefers to work quietly in the background, almost never seeking the limelight, this was overwhelming.

I thank the Council for this very pleasant surprise. I feel honoured and humbled to receive the Strathfield Citizen of the Year award for something that I am passionate about and enjoy doing the most.

I must say that my thanks are not only for the certificate that I received, but also for the acknowledgement and recognition of an ordinary everyday person, working voluntarily and sincerely to contribute towards the health, happiness and integration of the community in the local area, in whatever small way a person can. This honour shows to all of us that community work can be very rewarding and our Council is very well tuned to it.

Thank you, Dinesh Garg
