Safely transporting children - new animation and fact sheet launched for the education and care sector

The Education and Care Regulatory Unit (ECRU) has released a new animation, Think it Through –Transport, to support educators, particularly those who are new to the education and care sector, to understand the requirements when safely transporting children. This resource also serves as a useful refresher for more experienced educators. 

A new Transporting Children Safely fact sheet is also now available, outlining the key obligations for education and care providers and services when they transport children.

The Think it Through suite of animated videos aims to support less-experienced educators as they navigate the range of challenges in their daily operations, and the paramount priority to keep children safe.

The short, engaging video was developed using cross-jurisdictional resources from regulatory authorities throughout Australia. 

Providers and services can help spread the safe transport message by:

• promoting the video to your staff using emails or social media
• watching the video together at a team meeting
• re-sharing the resource at appropriate times in the year – for example, before school holidays when vacation care commences.
