Cr Karen Pensabene, Mayor of Strathfield
I am truly grateful and honoured to have been elected Mayor of Strathfield Council. I wish to express my gratitude to Cr Matthew Blackmore, Deputy Mayor for his outstanding contribution to our Council over the past 12 months. Cr Blackmore has taken Council in a new direction and has built a good and solid foundation to enable our Council to thrive well into the future.
My vision for Strathfield is simple and achievable. With the Councillors and the Leadership team we have now, we are fully equipped to achieve our goals. Here are just a few:
- A sustainable community where residents, with the correct education and tools, can help create and maintain a green and healthy environment.
- A community focused on well-being. Where we join together to maintain our community sport and recreation spaces to support our physical and mental health

Q&A with Jana Pittman at International Women's Day 2023
Strathfield Council celebrated International Women’s Day with a Q&A session with Jana Pittman, along with guest speakers Candice and Susie from Fitted for Work, who provide job-readiness services to women experiencing disadvantage. Thank you to those who joined us and for your generous donations for such a great cause!
Mayor Karen Pensabene
At its extraordinary meeting on Thursday 2 March 2023, Council elected Councillor Karen Pensabene as Mayor and Councillor Matthew Blackmore as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of this Mayoral term which ends September 2023.
Storytime in the Park
The Wonders of Water Discovery Team are coming along for Storytime at Fitzgerald Park. They will share a range of interactive activities, from a world of augmented reality to engaging interactive games!
Mason Park Nature Walk
Council partnered with BirdLife Australia to host an expert guided nature walk of Mason Park Wetlands this past weekend. Community members were joined by a number of native birds on display in their natural environment, including a Great Egret, Spoonbill, Black-Winged Stilts, Black Swans and more.
Industry Public Holiday
Strathfield Council Customer Service Centre will be closed on Friday 10 March 2023 due to an industry Public Holiday and will re-open on Monday 13 March 2023. Strathfield Library will also be closed on Friday 10 March and will re-open on Saturday 11 March.
Ironbark Gallery's newest exhibition
These two friends and artists have explored art making in many forms, together and apart, endeavouring to capture the beauty around them, both natural and created.
Movies in the Park
Head to Strathfield Park this Saturday for Minions: Rise of Gru at our FREE Movies in the Park event. Don't forget to bring along blankets, chairs and snacks!
