Recovering from Cyclone AlfredCommunity support, financial assistance and grants Council recently introduced a new webpage designed to offer essential information to aid the Logan community in recovering from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The webpage will be regularly updated to ensure you have the latest information. ![]() Supporting those doing it tough The recovery phase for communities impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred will mean dealing with damage to homes, businesses and community facilities, disruption to routines and heightened stress. There are also people around Australia who might be reliving their own experience of a past natural disaster. The R U OK? Natural Disaster or Emergency guide provides practical tools and tips to help you support a family member, friend, neighbour or workmate. ![]() Disaster Legal Helpline for Cyclone Alfred Recovery Caxton Community Legal Centre has launched a Disaster Legal Helpline to assist those affected by Cyclone Alfred. Open daily from 9am to 4pm, the helpline offers legal advice and social work support for disaster-related issues, including property damage, insurance, financial hardship, and personal safety, to people in Logan and other affected LGAs. The helpline staff will also connect callers with local services for ongoing assistance. The training will cover basics of governance, ethical use of AI, and useful resources. With various workshops and flexible sessions, attendees will learn how to safely and effectively use AI to meet their needs. RACQ Local Giving program gives community organisations the opportunity to apply for grants up to $500 through their local RACQ store. When: Every second Friday of the month from 3pm to 4:30pm ![]() Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for RACQ Foundation’s Tropical Cyclone Alfred & North Queensland Floods Recovery Grant. In response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred and North Queensland Floods, a special RACQ Foundation grant round of $500,000 has been opened. Community groups, charities, sporting clubs, and First Nations Councils can apply for up to $25,000 or $50,000 in extreme cases to support recovery efforts, including material items, community impact, and disaster mitigation. Applications close: 4pm (AEST), 28 April 2025 Applications are now open for the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Logan City Council. This fund supports the development of arts, culture, and heritage in Logan, providing funds for one-off projects. Categories include skills development, cultural tourism/creative projects, regional partnerships, and strategic initiatives for Council applications only. This program offers funding for arts projects and programs, with up to $70,000 available for one year and up to $150,000 for two years. The fund supports eligible individuals and organisations to provide high-quality experiences that celebrate local artists and stories and grow the state’s cultural reputation. Applications close: 14 April 2025 CS Energy’s Greenbank Battery Community Benefit Fund is now open for eligible individuals and Not-for-Profit community organisations. With a total pool of $20,000 to be awarded, this program provides funding for projects, events or initiatives that align with at least one of the community investment areas below and support the Greenbank community and surrounding suburbs.
Applications close: 1 May 2025 Applications are now open for the Flourish Community Grant 2025. The total available is $10,000. Applicants can apply for either $500, $1,000, $2,000, $5,000 or another amount. Eligible groups and organisations in South Maclean and surrounding areas, including not-for-profits, sports clubs, community groups, local educational institutions, and resident associations, are welcome to apply. Funding supports initiatives that develop a vibrant community and build lasting connections, such as cultural experiences, sports gear, welfare, educational facilities, environmental efforts, and recreational events. Applications close: Friday, 28 March 2025 The Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) is now open. This fund is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program and distributes approximately $60 million each year to not-for-profit community groups. This funding supports these groups in delivering essential services, recreational activities, and opportunities to enhance the well-being of Queensland communities.
