Friday 27 October 7pm, Our Lady’s Rosary Procession around Lake Monger will take place leaving from the gazebo, down from the Dodd Street Carpark. All are welcome to come along and join in the praying of the Rosary as we walk around the lake. The paths are wheelchair and pram friendly. 31 Oct INFORMATION EVENING - WHAT IS THE CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD?
Tuesday 31 October 7.30pm to 9.30pm, 27 Lalor Street, Scarborough. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd provides a sacred space for Christian faith formation of children aged 3 to 12 years. It is like a retreat centre for children, providing a place where they can form a personal relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd as well as formation and faith enrichment for adults and sacramental retreats. The Catechesis is grounded in scripture, and liturgy guided by the understanding of the child discovered by Maria Montessori. Children and adults hear the Gospel through the use of sensory-rich materials. It is a place of community and worship, a place to be with and enjoy God, listen to the Word, and to pray. Though sometimes seen as a complex philosophical concept of God, the heart of understanding the Trinity lies in God's self-revelation in the person of Jesus Christ. Benedictine spirituality is more readily experienced than defined. These weekends in the monastery Guesthouse (beginning with Vespers at 6.30pm on Friday, concluding after lunch on Sunday) provide the opportunity to enter fully into the monastic rhythm and balance of prayer, work, lectio divina, hospitality and community life. There will be opportunities to ponder the riches of the scriptures and monastic literature, both in group discussions and personal silence and solitude, bringing from the ‘storeroom, things both new and old.’ Participants are also invited to join the community for silent meals in the refectory, one of many invitations to listen with the ‘ear of the heart.’ Cost $300 (includes accommodation, meals and entry into the Museum and Art Gallery). The Diocese of Broome, WA, urgently requires volunteers to assist in working with the local Church, in various locations. There is a variety of important voluntary tasks in administration, building and vehicle maintenance, gardening, hospitality, general cleaning etc. Placements are preferred for a period of six months plus.
