Empty dreams, empty fridges

Forget avocado toast and gap years. The reality for many young Western Australians is a daily battle against food insecurity. Soaring food prices and a brutal housing market are forcing them into a heartbreaking decision: rent or food?

This is their story

Levelling the playing field

Expanding from 501 schools in 2022 to 524 schools in 2023, demand for food is rising fast. 5% year-on-year, in fact. And with over 120,000 Western Australian children in food insecure households, providing a nutritious breakfast is one way we can level the playing field for all school children.

To learn more about hosting a School Breakfast Program at your school, email or call Foodbank WA on (08) 9258 9277.

Tackle hunger with the West Coast Eagles

An empty fridge. A gnawing hunger that steals your focus. For too many Western Australian families, this isn't a "what if." It's a daily reality.

One in three households are going hungry right now. But you can help.

The West Coast Eagles and Foodbank WA are tackling hunger with the Million Meal Challenge.

Together we’re aiming to serve up a million meals to Western Australian families in need.

With 571,633 meals already secured, we need your help to cross the finish line.

Join the action at the Eagles vs. Essendon game on Saturday, 4 May or donate directly.  Every dollar provides two meals for those in need.

Boosting efficiency, reducing food waste

Say goodbye to sorting struggles. Our brand-new fruit and vegetable sorting table is set to streamline the sorting process. Our volunteers can now efficiently sift through donations and make sure only the freshest produce makes it to our shop floor. This means fresher food for clients and a more productive and comfortable experience for volunteers.

Foodbank Peel delivering more meals

Imagine a table filled with fresh food, a sight many families in the Peel region struggle to see. Thanks to our incredible sponsor, Alcoa, we’re turning empty fridges into full plates.

In just six months, with Alcoa’s support, Foodbank Peel has provided 436,537 meals. Alcoa doesn’t just write cheques. They ensure our food stays fresh by funding top-of-the-line fridges and their employees generously volunteer their time.

Because of partners like Alcoa, families in Kwinana, Pinjarra, Serpentine-Jarrahdale, and Harvey have access to nutritious food and a chance to thrive.
