Public consultation on the cost recovery proposals under the Organic Products and Production Act 2023 is open. The discussion document can be found here on the Ministry for Primary Industries' (MPI) website. Please note that we have extended the consultation period by four weeks and it will now close on Sunday, 10 August.

We encourage every business and organisation to submit their views on the proposals. A wide range of views will help MPI to understand how the proposals will affect different parts of the organic sector and provide balanced advice to Ministers.  

We have developed a basic calculator that will help operators determine what their levy costs will be under the two proposed options – a flat fee and a base fee plus volume calculation. If you would like us to send you a copy of the calculator (excel file), please email organicsconsultation@mpi.govt.nz. 

We have added a final webinar to answer any questions to aid submissions on Thursday 24 July from 4pm to 5.30pm.
