Growing up in Edmonton’s downtown core, Joanne Bartolome, ‘17 BCom, witnessed the example of hard work and determination set by her parents – immigrants from the Philippines who had arrived in Canada with little more than $20 to their name. Justice Eileen Gillese, ‘77 BCom, has traveled a long way from her days at the University of Alberta — earning two law degrees from Oxford University and now sitting as a justice of the Court of Appeal for Ontario for over two decades. Today, Justice Gillese is giving back to the school that helped launch her career.

The 2nd Annual City Building Conference at the U of A is happening on March 30 — and you don’t want to miss out! With expert speakers — like keynote speaker Catherine Warren (CEO Edmonton Unlimited) — engaging workshops and insightful breakout sessions, this event offers opportunities to connect and collaborate with fellow academics and industry leaders.

ABFI's Family Enterprise Leadership Series (FELS) targets family businesses, employees, and their advisors. Led by professionals with experience in family enterprise, these sessions focus on unique challenges that family-owned enterprises face.
