Compensation Matters - July 2022

Kaya (hello) reader

Wandju (welcome) to the new financial year! We are off to a busy start at WorkCover WA.

As we transition into a new year, we are faced with new opportunities to explore and challenges to overcome.

Changes to pandemic restrictions have enabled us to create opportunities for stakeholders to learn, whilst at the same time reconnecting with the workers’ compensation scheme. In this issue of Compensation Matters, you can learn about our upcoming insurer and self-insurer breakfast event, the WorkCover WA Conference, as well as gain information on updates to the Indexation of Workers’ Compensation Payments for 2022/23.

Whilst the year ahead is sure to bring challenges, we're excited to embrace every opportunity to fulfil our vision of ‘a workers' compensation and injury management scheme that works for all’ and launch our new Strategic Plan for 2022-2025: ‘Building on Strength’.

WorkCover WA’s commitment to achieving these strategic goals provides opportunities to further strengthen the scheme and deliver the best possible outcomes for injured workers.

Assessment of Premium Rates and Industry Classification: Loading and Appeal Policy

Change to paragraph 30d

Effective 1 July 2022, an amendment has been made to WorkCover WA's Assessment of Premium Rates and Industry Classification: Loading and Appeal Policy.

To support a fair and transparent appeal process, a change has been made to paragraph 30d, with the inclusion of item (iv).

30d(iv). The Board will only consider information which was known to all parties at the time a loading application is made. This does not preclude the clarification of claim and payment data.
