WHO recommends a second vaccine for malaria prevention

In a major advancement for child health and malaria control, WHO has recommended a second vaccine to prevent malaria among children living in areas of risk. The addition of the R21/Matrix-M vaccine to complement the ongoing rollout of the first malaria vaccine, RTS,S/AS01, is expected to result in sufficient vaccine supply to benefit all children living in areas where malaria is a major public health problem.
