Nominations and Election Report

The Annual General Meeting of Central Island Division took place on September 20.  The formal Annual Report (please click here) was delivered and the auditors of Chan Nowosad and Boates reported the official audited financials for the fiscal year 2022 (please click here). New bylaws for the Division were also supported by the membership at this meeting. For a copy of the new Bylaws please contact Jill Skuse.

Here is the report from the Nominations/Elections committee:

At the start of the nomination period there were two Board of Director positions available. You will each have received a call for nominations to the Board. Nominations for Board positions opened on August 11, 2023. Nomination submissions deadline was August 25, 2023. Three members were nominated during that period, which then indicated there was need for an election. The election period took place from September 1 – 14. 35 ballots were cast, and Gina Bell and Arno Kitshoff were successful and will be joining the board for a two-year period.

Therefore, the Board of Directors for the 2023/4 year are….

  • Dr. Gina Bell
  • Dr. Arno Kitshoff
  • Dr. Mark Morris
  • Dr. Kristine Woodley
  • Del Kristalovich
  • Dr. Jim Dimmick
  • David James

I would like to make a loud shout out to the talented, dedicated employees at Central island for working hard to make 2022/23 a success. They are:

  • Tina Biello, Project Manager
  • Jennifer Taylor, Operations and Recruitment Coordinator
  • Jill Skuse, Division Coordinator
  • Kristie Lamirande, Oceanside PCN Manager
  • Silvina Lanusse, Oceanside PCN Administrative Assistant
  • Sharon Todd, Port Alberni PCN Manager
  • Amanda Salvage, Port Alberni PCN Administrative Assistant.

Executive Director

Port Alberni Primary Care Network

The Port Alberni Primary Care Network will be welcoming our 3rd RN in practice in October, with this resource allocated to be shared between Drs. Arno Kitshoff and Dr. Freddie Meyer.

The PCN Team is currently working on preparing the pharmacist in practice program, so watch out for expressions of interest coming in October if you could use a pharmacist in your family practice clinic!

The Community Health Centre team has met and are starting to scout locations to house the new health centre. We also hope to welcome a new Métis Health Advocate before the end of 2023.

No Cheque Policy

Due to the inefficiency of distributing cheques and the potential risk for loss and destruction, Central Island Division of Family Practice will be switching to a "no cheque" policy starting December 31, 2023.

All members and partners who claim sessionals and reimbursements will be paid by direct deposit starting on that date. The vast majority of people are already registered for direct deposit, and you are required to do nothing. But if you are one of those people who are still accepting cheques, please be aware that this practice will cease. If you would like to sign up for direct deposit, please contact Jill Skuse - Division Coordinator to assist you with this. Jill can be reached at jskuse@cidivision.ca or 250-937-9079. Thanks for your assistance in making this transition.
