The City of Logan is joining cities from around the world for the City Nature Challenge 2026, a global bioblitz running from 24–27 April. This is your chance to look, listen and document our city’s incredible biodiversity. Participating is easy! Here’s how to get involved:

PlatypusWatchWatergum’s PlatypusWatch program, in partnership with Logan City Council, has been surveying the Albert River twice a year since 2018 to help monitor and protect our local platypus population. The next survey is on Sunday 19 April, and we’re looking for more volunteers. The more sites we survey, the better our understanding of how platypus are doing this season. Before survey day, you will need to complete the short online induction covering platypus biology, survey methods, and what to expect.

Great Glossy Count - 9 May Ready to learn how to locate and identify Glossy Black-Cockatoos (also known as ‘Glossies’) and their feed trees in the wild? Come along to this walk and talk to learn all about these magnificent birds. Bookings required. Each month we will share a new word that you can learn. For a full list of words download the Yugambeh dictionary. For 18 years, people around the world have marked Save the Frogs Day, a reminder of the important role amphibians play in our ecosystems. While scientists continue to investigate the disease affecting frog populations, there are simple actions you can take at home to support our local species: 🐸 Create a frog‑friendly backyard Add a small pond, build a frog hotel, and plant native plants. 🐸 Spot and record frogs Look and listen for frogs in your backyard or neighbourhood, and log your sightings using the FrogID or iNaturalist apps. FREE TREES Property owners in Logan can take advantage of our Free Trees program. Bring a copy of your current rates notice to one of the collection locations and choose from a wide range of plants.
