Hi Strathfield,
Another fantastic week in Council last week!
Visiting primary schools and preschools is a highlight of my time as Mayor. Seeing the beautiful faces and hearing the enthusiasm of our primary school students is an absolute treat. Congratulations to all students who have received their half year awards, and I look forward to seeing you all again at the end of year presentation.
I also had the opportunity to visit many of our community organisations and charity associations.
Our charity associations will benefit from our upcoming food appeal starting from Monday 17 July. Food items that are in great need are: long life milk, cereal, (particularly oats) rice, tinned vegetables, tins of corned beef and spam. Other non-perishable items are always welcome. Drop off centres will be at Council’s Customer Service Centre and Strathfield Library. It has been the coldest June in 5 years and many households, residents and people experiencing homelessness are doing it tough. Please help if you are able, a little gesture goes a long way.
Exciting news: Council has received permission from OPTUS to stream the FIFA World Cup in Strathfield Square. We are looking forward to rugging up and sitting together as a community to cheer on our fabulous Matildas in all their preliminary matches starting 20 July. More details will be released in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out.
Just a reminder that the Community Grant program is still open, and applications will close on 31 July. Please see Council website for more information.

Donate to the Homelessness Food Appeal
August 1-7 is National Homelessness Week. Council is asking residents to donate non-perishable food to a Homelessness Food Appeal at the Library or at Council's Customer Service from 17 July until 7 August.
June Citizenship Ceremony
Council would like to extend a massive congratulations to the 69 individuals who received their citizenship at last week's Citizenship Ceremony. Thank you to the Strathfield South Public School choir for performing the National Anthem!

National Tree Day

National Tree Day is just around the corner, and once again Council will be hosting a planting event at one of our beautiful parks.
