Dear Triton Parents and Families,

As the academic year draws to a close, we’re filled with pride for all of the incredible milestones your students have achieved. Whether they’re wrapping up their first year or preparing for graduation, this time of year offers a unique opportunity to reflect on their growth, accomplishments and the support systems (like you!) that made it all possible.

In this edition of our newsletter, we’re excited to share important updates that will help you and your student wrap up the year smoothly, including move-out reminders, summer housing and storage options and helpful resources for student well-being. You’ll also find ways to get involved and stay connected with the UC San Diego community, from giving back to becoming a Triton Family Ambassador.

And as you celebrate your students and all they've achieved this year, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate you. Your unwavering support has been an integral part of your students' success, and as you reflect on all the progress they’ve made, I hope you also recognize the important role you’ve played in making that progress possible. We truly believe that when parents and families are informed, involved and invested, students thrive. Your continued engagement is a testament to that, and we are deeply grateful for the role you’ve played in your student’s journey.

Best,
Margot

Campus Housing Updates

Prepare for Move-out
Planning for your student's move-out in advance is critical to help make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible!

Students living in campus housing (except Pepper Canyon West) must vacate their housing space by 3:00 p.m. on June 14, 2025, or within 24 hours of their last in-person final, whichever comes first.

Students must also complete the online Express Check-Out form as they leave via the Housing Portal. Students who neglect to complete this process may be subject to a daily fee equal to the daily rate of their space until the Express Check-Out is completed. Depending on their assigned facility and room type, the fee may range from $49.20 (Residence Hall triple) to $57.90 (Apartment single) per day.

Move-Out and Storage Services
We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Storage Scholars, a convenient, student-friendly storage and shipping service. Their services include:

  • Delivery of packing materials right before finals
  • Flexible pick-up scheduling with live tracking
  • Secure, local, temperature-controlled storage
  • Shipping options anywhere in the United States
  • Delivery of your items when you return

To get started, reserve your spot here and search for “University of California - San Diego.”

Summer Session Housing 2025
UC San Diego offers on-campus housing during the summer for eligible students for both Summer Session I and II. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of one unit for Summer Session I and/or Summer Session II. Students working on campus or participating in an internship may qualify for Summer Intern Housing.

Summer housing at UC San Diego is billed monthly, which means students will be charged for each month they reside on campus. It's crucial to note that if a student is receiving financial aid, they should carefully check the disbursement dates to ensure that they don't overspend their aid if they'll be in summer session housing for multiple months. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office provides detailed information about summer session disbursement dates on their website.

Student Financial Solutions

As your student wraps up the academic year, here are a few important updates from Student Financial Solutions (SFS) to help your family stay on track for summer:

Billing Statement Due Date - June 23

  • Encourage your student to log into TritonPay and ensure all balances are paid by the June billing statement due date: June 23, 2025.
  • Not yet an authorized payer? If you haven’t been added as an authorized payer in TritonPay, your student can follow these step-by-step instructions to grant you access.
  • Paying with a 529 Plan? If your family plans to submit a 529 paper check, please let our team know once it’s been initiated—either by phone at 858-946-4160 or via the Student Services and Support portal . More on 529 payments can be found here.
  • Stay on top of future billing statement due dates by visiting this page.

Summer Session Triton Registration Installment Plan (TRIP)

  • TRIP is available for Summer Session I, II, and Special Session.
  • TRIP does not auto-renew, so students must re-enroll if they want to use it again.
  • Financial aid may reduce TRIP amounts—it's best to enroll after aid has been disbursed.
  • More information can be found online.

TritonPay Office Hours and Campus Card Update

  • New hours effective July 1: Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (in person and phone).
  • The Campus Card Office is moving! Starting July 1, students will pick up their ID cards at the TritonPay Office in the Student Services Center (Room 170).

Keep Contact Info Up to Date

  • Now’s a great time for your student to review their mailing address and ensure parent/family email addresses are current. Keeping this info updated ensures your family doesn’t miss important messages from campus over the summer.

Mental Health Resources

Triton CORE – UC-San Diego’s Mobile Compassionate Response Team

https://tritoncore.ucsd.edu/

Triton CORE, a Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Program, is a team of licensed mental health professionals who can meet with students experiencing a behavioral health crisis anywhere on campus. Whether students are dealing with thoughts of harming themselves or others, significant changes in behavior (like isolation, neglecting basic needs, or a sudden drop in grades/class attendance), or emotional distress, Triton CORE is here to help.

Students also have the option of meeting with clinicians at CAPS Urgent Care (Galbraith Hall, RM 190) from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If a student is unable to utilize that as a resource, Triton CORE can provide immediate, on-campus support, including a comprehensive mental health evaluation, safety planning and coordination of care.

Triton CORE offers a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, focusing on understanding each student’s unique mental health, case management and cultural needs. If necessary, Triton CORE can also transport students to a higher level of care, such as an emergency department or crisis stabilization unit.

Parents and family members can call Triton CORE on behalf of any student on campus. Call the UC San Diego Police Department Dispatch at (858) 534-HELP (4357) and ask to speak to the Triton CORE team.

    Willo 2.0 is Here!

In partnership with the Jacobs Center for Health Innovation, Willo — a mental health and well-being app co-designed for students by students — launched its second version this spring. It now makes it easy to fulfill student needs with curated collections and actionable events. Encourage your students to download the app today and take charge of their wellness journey.

Teaching and Learning Commons: Student Support Services and Programs

Supplemental Instruction and Content Tutoring Services
Support for lower division STEM courses is available both through individual one-on-one or small group tutoring and regularly scheduled study sessions through Supplemental Instruction. The Supplemental Instruction program offers students the opportunity to master course material within a community of learners. Program assessment demonstrates that participation in Supplemental Instruction supports students in obtaining a half-letter grade higher than their peers who do not participate in this program.

Our services are available six days a week, both online and in-person. Students can schedule a tutoring appointment ahead of time or same day, “drop-in” appointments are usually available, depending on tutor availability. Supplemental Instruction study sessions are held at various times and locations on campus. For the latest information check the SI Schedule before attending a session.

        Writing and Communication Services
Writing and communication services are available online and in-person, six days a week, for students working on a broad range of writing projects. Students can sign up for a one-on-one writing consultation by appointment or they can stop by the Commons in-person for same-day, “drop-in” appointments, depending upon consultant availability.

Our highly trained peer consultants engage writers in supportive, in-depth conversations about writing, the writing process, and writing skills so that every writer — at every stage of the writing process and across every discipline — can make progress on writing assignments, enhance their overall writing skills, and take that next step in their writing journey.

        Experiential Learning and Academic Internships
Experiential Learning at UC San Diego builds bridges — between academic and co-curricular, theory and practice, college and career — by creating opportunities for students to learn by doing. Students explore, build community, develop the competencies and transferable skills to lead in a global society through engagement in experiential learning both on and off campus.

Students can explore experiential learning opportunities through the Co-Curricular Record (CCR) with over 1,200 campus-connected positions. The CCR is a complimentary transcript circular highlighting student campus involvement, along with the skills developed beyond the classroom. Opportunities include the Academic Internship Program, which offers a variety to credit-bearing paid and unpaid internship experiences, Biology Research Internship Program for students seeking laboratory experiences and quarterly internship opportunities in Washington, DC (UCDC) or Sacramento, CA (UCCS) featuring seminars and internships at the nation’s or state capitols.

Celebrate Your Student's Journey with a Gift of Gratitude

As the academic year comes to a close, we know that all parents — whether their students are in their first year or their final one — feel a deep sense of pride in and gratitude for the growth their students have experienced, as well as the incredible achievements that come with it.

We invite you to consider expressing your gratitude by making a gift in honor of the people and programs that have made a difference in your student’s life this year. Whether it’s a professor who inspired them, a staff member who supported their journey or a program that helped them thrive, your gift can leave a lasting impact on future Tritons.

Join us in showing appreciation for the UC San Diego community that helps shape the student experience. Make a gift today and contribute to the continued success of our students.
