Happy New Year colleagues, and welcome back! We are busy getting back into the swing of things here, and 2019 is off to a strong start.

January marks the commencement of the CaRMS tour for our 4th Year MD students. We know how much work it is for programs to prepare for and interview the hundreds of students who make their rounds on the CaRMS circuit. Good luck to all of the programs and students during this busy time!

On Friday our Interim Dean, Dr. Dennis Kunimoto, will host a Town Hall to discuss the state of the Faculty including updates regarding strategic plan progress and focuses for 2019. Following this is a TGIF at 4pm in the Katz Atrium, hosted by the Dean's Office. Hope to see you there!

We are looking forward to a year of growth, progress and educational successes. Here's to a great 2019!

2019 FoMD IDEAS Office - Summer Studentship in Health Professions Education

The Summer Studentship in Health Professions Education (HPE) Grant Program is a competitive program sponsored by the FoMD IDEAS Office that supports annual studentships for either:
(1) an educational research study in the health professions or
(2) a curriculum development and evaluation project in the health professions.

Grant applications must be submitted no later than 12:00 p.m. on March 11, 2019. The application form can be found here.

Health Professions Education Article Tracking

The IDEAS Office research librarian is tracking health professions education (HPE) articles published by FoMD faculty. During the final quarter of 2018, a number of FoMD faculty produced articles pertaining to some aspect of education in the health professions. Images of Research Competition

This competition is an opportunity for current University of Alberta graduate students from all disciplines to capture, share, and present the essence of their research in one image.

2019 U of A Awards for Teaching Excellence - Nominations Open

Nominations are now open for various teaching excellence awards that recognize teachers of both undergraduates and graduates as well as teaching units. Please consider nominating the excellent teachers you know within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Nominations close on Friday, February 22, 2019.
