Read more ![]() ![]() Digital Anatomy Showcase hosted by Academic Technologies & U of A LibrariesOn Wednesday, Sept 25, 2019 between 5 - 6:30 p.m., the FoMD Academic Technologies team and U of A Libraries will be presenting a Digital Anatomy Showcase in the Digital Scholarship Centre, on the 2nd Floor Cameron Library. The showcase is open to all U of A Faculty members. The evening will provide access to many digital anatomy learning tools, including: Royalty-free images, 3-D atlas, interactive guides, independent learning activities, anatomy tables, 3-D functional anatomy, and VR dissections. The showcase is recommended for anyone looking to help students and practitioners better learn and visualize anatomy in deeper ways. Feedback and level of interest will help shape future digital anatomy purchases at the University. XR is an umbrella term encapsulating virtual reality, augmented reality, 360-degree video, mixed reality and everything in between. Research has demonstrated that a one-hour traditional lecture can be condensed to a 10 minute VR experience, with a 10 per cent increase in recall, all while having fun. Dr. LaPointe began his appointment as Director on September 1, 2019, within the Academic Technologies portfolio. We welcome and encourage collaboration and the sharing of as much of your good work in HPE scholarship and examples of your scholarly teaching as possible; however, to ensure that as many people as possible have the chance to participate, you can only be a session presenter once.
