World Book Day

https://www.worldbookday.com/2019/09/world-book-day-2020-launch/

This year's theme is 'Share a story' so if you would like to dress up on Thursday 5th March, we are encouraging you to select your favourite character from a story and dress as them - bring the book along with you so you can 'share the story' of your character!

Shining Star

We would like to congratulate Rohan on all his efforts to fundraise money for the National Literacy Trust - he was even featured in their newsletter (see below)! Currently he has raised £380. If you would like to read more about his mission or to donate to help Rohan smash his targets please visit his fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/RohanPatel9

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to those who have registered with the Easy Fundraising platform, the donations have already started to come in!

For those who haven’t, this platform allows us to turn everyday online shopping into donations for the school which can then be spent on equipment and facilities. If you haven’t registered yet and are happy to help (at no cost to you!), we ask that you do two things:

1. Sign up to Easy Fundraising and register School 21 as your cause of choice here: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/GO6EW2/
(We get a £5 donation for every person that signs up via that link!).

2. Install the donation reminder on your computer: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/donation-reminder/
This is a totally unobtrusive button that sits on your internet bar, and pops up with a subtle reminder every time you shop with a retailer that donates to us.

Finally, please share with any family and friends.

Thanks so much

All at School 21

Spare Clothes

If your child has borrowed any clothes from our spare clothes box please bring them back as soon as possible as we have very little left. (eg if they have wet themselves)

If you have any trousers, skirts or tights that you could donate that would be wonderful.

Also if you would like to donate new children’s underwear that would be amazing.

Exploring Artefacts

As part of our learning on the Stone Age, year 1 have been exploring a range of artefacts. Our curiosity has been ignited by looking at these tools and pieces and wondering what they could've been used for. We inquired into how they might've been made and what materials they were made from. Naturally, all this excitement led to us having even more questions and ponderings about this fascinating time in history!

Fraction Fun in Year 2

This week Year 2 have been learning about fractions.  They have been exploring halves and quarters, dividing even numbers equally. They found using cubes and counters helped them to reach the correct answers.  Did you know that the line in a written fraction to divide the numerator with the denominator is called the vinculum?

Timelines and Tudors!

This week Year 3 we have been learning about an important tool for historians- we are learning how to use and read timelines! We looked all the way back to the dinosaurs which was was around 360,000,000 years ago! We then learned the difference between BC and AD and looked at when the Tudors were alive. We were fascinated about how old the world is and how much has happened!

Openness Certificate Winners

Well done to those students who went above and beyond in our value of openness - taking feedback + reflecting on your work to improve. You have made Otto very proud! Lizanne, Yasna, Shifah, Aryan, Elissa, Arion, Yameen, Zipi, Rayna, Melani, Jase, Cartier and Markas.

Next week's value: Community.  Can your child tell you how they can show this value and earn a certificate?
