29 January 2026

Dear Residents,

Council welcomed 77 new Australian citizens to the Strathfield area at our Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on Monday 26 January 2026. In addition to this, I was delighted to award the 2026 Local Citizen of the Year award to Dinesh Garg and 2026 Local Young Citizen of the Year award to Anoop Gholap. Congratulations to this year's worthy recipients!

I'd also like to thank everyone who turned up to Council's Australia Day celebrations later that afternoon in Strathfield Square. It was great to see so many members of our community celebrating our nation.

Lastly, the Flemington Chamber of Commerce will be bringing Homebush West to life with Lunar New Year celebrations on Wednesday 18 February. Head over to Henley Road at 10am to see a colourful lion dance in action as it roams to bring good fortune and prosperity.

If you need to contact me or have any questions, please do so by emailing me cr.bcai@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or ring our office on 9748 9999.

Cr Benjamin Cai, Mayor of Strathfield
