Junior School NoticesTERM 3 WEEK 4Dear valued member of the PLC community, Today we held our 107th annual Founders’ Day Service at which the whole community came together including many of our Old Collegians. Congratulations to Milly Wade (Kindergarten) who cut the birthday cake with Hon June (Margaret) Craig AM (Lynn 1947). ![]() Congratulations also to the finalists in the Years 5 and 6 Speakers' Challenge. The judges certainly had a very difficult task in deciding on the finalists. From Year 5, first place went to Florence Johnson and runner up went to Beatrix Connor. In Year 6, first place went to Charlotte Langford and runner up was Millie Skewes I hope that you all enjoy your four-day weekend. We have some action-packed weeks ahead, so do rest up. Please remember that the Book Week Parade is on our first day back from the Mid-Term Break on Tuesday 23 August. They are awarded based on musical potential across all instruments, musical excellence, and the current needs within the PLC Music Department. ![]() Book ParadeOn Tuesday 23 August at 8.45 am, the Junior School community is invited to attend the 2022 Book Parade in the Swim and Recreation Centre. The theme for this year is “dreaming with eyes open” which lends itself to costumes with anything to do with the world of books and imagination. Students may choose to bring the book from which their character is taken. Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Pre-Primary students will parade in classes, assisted by our Year 6 Leaders. Students in Years 1 to Year 6 will parade in their Houses. ![]() We Need Your Old BooksThis year at Open Garden Day, the Year 7 parents are running the second-hand book stall – The Book Nook – and are calling for donations of books (for children and adults), DVDs for children, and DVD documentaries. No magazines, please. Please drop off books into the collection boxes located at Junior School Reception. ![]() Cooking for a CausePLC families from Years 5 to 6 are invited to sign up for Term 3 Cooking for a Cause. ![]() Term Fee Draw WinnerCongratulations to Michael and Shalini Munro who are the lucky winners of the Term 3 School Fees Draw. They will have $7,395 credited to the school fees account for their daughter Isha in Year 8. Thanks to all who support this initiative. The net proceeds will be used towards the purchase of three sets of Little Annie resuscitation manikins to provide a realistic learning opportunity for first aid skills. Student AchievementsWA Primary School All Schools State Cross CountryIt was a fabulous day on Friday at the WA Primary School All Schools State Cross Country where 53 PLC students competed against other Primary Schools. Congratulations to Sofia Lambo (Year 5), Josie Payne (Year 5), and Sophie Higgins (Year 4) who were selected for the state team. The top 20 from each year group were invited.
