Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study: 2026 Survey Round

Invitation to schools to participate

The Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) Study will conduct the next round of data collection starting in January 2026.

Every 4 years, a nationally representative sample of Scottish Primary and Secondary schools are invited to survey one P7 class and one S2 & one S4 class. The resulting national data report survey covers a comprehensive range of physical and mental health topics.

Each participating school will receive a school report providing aggregate level data, subject to meeting the minimum requirement for number of pupils, to benefit the local health and wellbeing improvement agenda.  To support the work of schools, HBSC also produces a range of research briefings/classroom resources from the survey findings, on topics such as Trends in Young People's Substance Use in Scotland , Anxiety among young people in Scotland and Young people’s experiences of bullying and cyberbullying in Scotland. International comparisons can be found here.

If you would like your school to participate in the HBSC 2026 survey round, please contact the Project Manager at Judith.Brown@glasgow.ac.uk

Perfectionism & mental health outcomes in the teaching workforce

Invitation for participation & prize draw

Researchers at the University of  Glasgow invite you to take part in a two-part study examining knowledge of perfectionism in teachers and trainee teachers.

Perfectionism is a personality trait associated with various mental health outcomes. Higher levels of perfectionism may make teachers vulnerable to the negative effects of high workloads and job stress. The findings of the study will help to determine current knowledge of perfectionism among teachers, as well as identifying effective ways of educating teachers on perfectionism, with the aim to enhance wellbeing of both staff and students.

  • The first part of the study involves completing a questionnaire and then watching a short video.
  • The second part of the study involves completing a questionnaire one week later.

Each part of the study will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. By taking part in both timepoints, participants can enter a prize draw of 1 X £100 Love2shop voucher and 2 X £50 Love2shop vouchers.

If you are happy to participate, click on the link: https://uofg.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0MuAXy9saHSWuCq

The link includes more information on the project, the questionnaire, and the video.  Thank you for considering taking part in our study!

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable Christmas break!
