The College is conducting two surveys to help update registration requirements

This year, the College of Applied Biologists has created a Task Force to review the College’s registration requirements. The purpose of the review is to ensure that registrants have the minimum knowledge and skills to practice independently, while avoiding unnecessary barriers to registration.

As part of the review, the College is conducting two surveys of recent Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) and Biologist in Training (BIT) applicants to learn about their registration experience, and to gather suggestions about what could be improved.

The College’s registration requirements have changed over time, so we are only surveying recent applicants. The two groups we are surveying are:

  • RPBio/BIT applicants that were approved to be registered from May 2023 onwards
  • Labour mobility applicants (from the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists) that were approved to be registered from 2021 onwards

If you are part of these groups, you should have received an email notification on April 17 with a link to access the survey. You will also be able to open the survey from your registrant portal.

These surveys take about 5 minutes to complete and are anonymous—your answers will not affect your registration with the College.

We encourage you to participate in the survey to help us improve our Credentialing Standard for future applicants.

The survey will be open until May 19, at 11:59pm.

If you have any questions or issues accessing the survey, please contact our Registrar’s Office at registrar_office@cab-bc.org.
