In this edition of DataPoint we hear from three of the principals who recently attended DDD Champion Principals training, and who are determined to share their newfound expertise. The Champion Principals initiative is a nation-wide campaign being run by the DDD team to upskill principals who want to do their own peer-to-peer DDD Dashboard training with colleagues and school management teams. To find out more about the initiative in your province, and how to get involved, contact your DDD provincial manager or email the DataPoint team on communication@newleaders.co.za. Intrigued?   It’s been 18 months since the redesigned DDD Dashboard went live, and since then 16 000 education officials have logged in to explore its features. A quick analysis of visitors over time reveals that not only do officials view the Detail page the most often, but they also regularly log in on a Sunday! See the stats below for more insights.

MOST VISITED   MOST ANALYSED   MOST POPULAR   MOST OFTEN
The most viewed page/tab in Term 4 last year was the Detail page.   The most downloaded Excel file of all time is the School Achievement file.   Most frequently accessed report in Term 4 2023 was the School Achievement Report.   More users log in on a Tuesday than any other day of the week.

  DASHBOARD UPDATES

All eyes are on the new Valistractor, with around half of schools that normally upload data to DDD now successfully submitting via the new platform. Gauteng continues to lead the way, with over 80% of schools using the new Valistractor, closely followed by Northern Cape (65%) and Limpopo (58%). We are aware that some officials are experiencing submission challenges, and the DDD Helpdesk and EMIS teams continue to work closely with affected schools to resolve these.

If you see the above pop-up window when trying to submit data to the dashboard, it’s because you’re using the old version of Valistractor, which is no longer available. Click on the PDF link in the pop-up to get the new Valistractor download instructions, and you’ll be well on your way.   More than 1 500 education officials have shared their feedback on the visuals and features of the DDD Dashboard they use most (or least), in a recent survey by our Insights and Innovation team. Some exciting enhancements are in the pipeline as a result – so watch this space!   Whether it is to book a webinar, watch a recording, or to complete a detailed training course in your own time, the DDD Learning Hub is still the most convenient way to do it. If you have access to DDD, then you have access to the Hub, so click below to brush up on your dashboard skills today.

Following recent training, Mrs Mahamba says that instead of checking schedules and searching learner by learner, she can view, export, filter and select learners based on a single metric.   Mr Mashiane highlights that performance data is critical to tracking how subjects are doing in terms of achievement and curriculum coverage. ”This tool helps us a lot!”   The DDD Dashboard has been on Mrs Maiphepi’s radar for some time, but she described the recent training session as an eye opener. “DDD puts you in the drivers’ seat!”
