Cr Karen Pensabene, Mayor of Strathfield

Residents

I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured to have been re-elected as the Mayor of Strathfield during this week’s Ordinary Council Meeting. I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to continue serving our wonderful community and advancing our collective goals. Looking ahead to 2024, my commitment to our Local Government Area remains steadfast.  Together with a dedicated and professional team of councillors and executives, I am eager to maintain the positive momentum that has made Strathfield such a great place to live.

I would also like to extend my congratulations to Cr Sandy Reddy for election as Deputy Mayor of Strathfield. This marks a historic moment in our Council’s history as it may be the first time both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions have been held by women. I am truly honoured to be part of this milestone and am enthusiastic about collaborating with Cr Reddy to realise our shared vision for Strathfield.

A huge thank you to the outgoing Deputy Mayor Cr Cai. Cr Cai has held the position for the past 5 months and I think you will all agree, he has been a very active member of our community. Cr Cai will continue his great work representing Strathfield Council.

My vision for Strathfield has always centred around community engagement and fostering connections. Loneliness is a concerning issue, particularly among adults under 30, with a staggering 24% experiencing daily loneliness.  This is why I initiated the meet and greet program, with has provided valuable insights into our community’s interests and needs.

Our upcoming Homebush Vibes event will be a fantastic opportunity for our local churches, choir and talented musicians to come together and ignite interest from all corners of our community. I encourage you all to mark your calendars for September 16 from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Rochester Street, Homebush.  Please join us for an afternoon and evening filled with fun and entertainment and take the opportunity to introduce yourself to your fellow Strathfield residents.

As always if you require any help or information, please contact the office or email me on cr.kpensabene@strathfield.nsw.gov.au
