Junior School NoticesTERM 1 WEEK 1From the Head of Junior SchoolDear valued member of the PLC community, What a wonderful day we had on Monday in the Junior School. As I greeted students and their families in the slipway and then visited classrooms throughout the day, the energy and enthusiasm were contagious. I saw pure joy on the faces of the students meeting their new teacher(s), reuniting with friends, or making new friends. The buzz in the Junior School made me smile and reminded me of how important communities like ours are to all of us. ![]() As a new member, I can certainly say how welcomed and supported I feel. I also understand that for some students, they felt some nerves on their first day, but these dissipated during the day. We enjoyed an informal welcome assembly with our students and staff. This provided me with the opportunity to introduce myself and all the staff. We discussed our school values and our theme "Think Big, Be Brave for 2023". To commence the term, we will be talking about bravery and kindness. I have asked students to think of ways they show kindness throughout the day and to share these with me when I continue to visit classrooms or in the slipway. Over the coming fortnight, the Year 6 Teaching Team will be working with our Year 6 cohort on leadership roles and responsibilities within the Junior School. The decision was made last year to run this process early in Term 1 this year giving all students the opportunity to nominate themselves for a leadership role for Semester 1. Further communication regarding this process will come directly from the Year 6 teachers. Please note, these roles will be announced at our first Junior School Assembly on Friday 10 February at 8.45 am. All parents are welcome to attend, especially our Year 6 parents. Year Level Parent MeetingsMs Cate Begbie and I have commenced our year level parent meetings this week with the remaining meetings scheduled for the times below.
