This edition brings together local stories, events, programs and opportunities to help you stay connected and involved across the City of Logan. From community highlights to useful resources and funding opportunities, there’s something here for everyone. Connecting our Community is also your space to share what’s happening locally. Community StoriesGiving event décor a second chance in Logan Long‑time Logan locals Saalihah and Sayeed Seedat are combining creativity with community care through their business, Elysian Event Hire. Alongside offering affordable, high‑quality event décor, the couple has launched Second Chance Styling - an initiative that repurposes gently used styling items for local charities, community groups and organisations. Logan's best honoured at Australia Day AwardsLogan’s strong community spirit was on full display at the City of Logan Australia Day Awards, where three outstanding locals were recognised for their dedication and impact. The awards celebrated individuals who have strengthened community connections, supported vulnerable people and given back through leadership, volunteering and advocacy. Do you know a young person aged 14 to 24 who lives, works or studies in the City of Logan and wants to make a positive difference in their community? Please share this opportunity with them and encourage them to apply - it’s a great way for young people to have their voice heard and help shape the future of Logan. These sessions will be interactive and include time for questions and answers. Road Ready powered by 5FOLD is looking for dedicated mentor volunteers to guide learners aged 16 to 24 on their journey to driving independence. By giving just a few hours of your time, you can make a lifelong impact, helping young people gain freedom, responsibility and confidence behind the wheel. Share your story of belonging and go in the chance to win! In the lead up to the celebration of Neighbour Day on Sunday 29 March, the annual Tell Us Your Story Competition from Neighbours Every Day is back! This year’s theme, Belonging Every Day, invites you to share what belonging looks like in your local community. You can tell your story in many creative ways, including writing, photos, videos or artwork. Selected stories will be celebrated nationally, with prizes awarded. For inspiration and details on how to enter, click the link below 👇 Information sessions - My Housing Options Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is hosting free information sessions and workshops to help people better understand the My Housing Options toolkit. These sessions support people with disability, families, supporters and service providers to explore housing choices, plan next steps and build confidence in their housing journey. Sessions are delivered in person and online across Queensland and are co‑delivered by people with lived experience of disability. Nominations and applications are now open for the Indigenous Governance Awards 2026, celebrating excellence in Indigenous governance across Australia. Community members are encouraged to nominate outstanding organisations or apply directly. Community EventsBlue Card Services Roadshow event in Logan Central The Blue Card Services roadshow is coming to Logan! It will support organisations and community groups to better understand their blue card obligations and recent legislative changes. This free, interactive session will share practical information about Queensland’s working with children laws. Topics include who needs a blue card, compliance responsibilities and recent updates to the blue card system. Registrations are essential, with limited spaces available. When: Thursday 12 March, 9:30am to 12:30pm Logan Youth Step Up Step Down Open Day Referrers, health professionals and the local community are warmly invited to attend the Logan Youth Step Up Step Down Open Day. This is a great opportunity to tour the facility, learn about the program and model of care, and better understand the supports available for young people. Visitors can meet the team, ask questions, connect with others and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, with snacks and a coffee cart available on the day. When: Friday 20 February, 10am to 2pm
Community ProgramsAuslan Practice Group at Beenleigh RSL A weekly Auslan Practice Group is now being hosted at the Beenleigh RSL on Tuesday evenings. This free, inclusive program is open to people of all skill levels, from beginners to those with more experience or supporting a deaf or hard‑of‑hearing family member. This is not a formal training course. When: Tuesdays, 6:30pm to 8pm
Little Big Moments – Family Program Little Big Moments is a free, disability‑inclusive program designed to create connection, fun and support for families, parents and carers. Held at the Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre, the session offers engaging activities for children and families in a welcoming, inclusive environment. A light lunch will be provided, making it a relaxed opportunity to spend time together and enjoy shared moments that make a big difference. When: Saturday 14 February, 12pm to 2pm
Funding OpportunitiesApplications are now open for the Paul Ramsay Foundation’s Dads on Track National Grant Round. This funding supports eligible organisations delivering specialist programs for fathers and male caregivers who use, or are at risk of using, domestic and family violence. Grants of up to $350,000 per year for five years aim to improve safety for victim‑survivors and support long‑term, whole‑of‑family outcomes. Expressions of interest close: 10:59pm (AEST), Monday 2 March 2026 Applications are now open for Season 12 of Protostars, the Blackbird Foundation’s micro‑grant program for young people with passion projects. Protostars offers $1,000 grants to Australians aged 18 to 25 to help bring creative, ambitious and experimental ideas to life. Successful applicants also join an eight‑week cohort and a supportive community of emerging creators, innovators and storytellers from across Australia and New Zealand, Applications close: In 2026 the application intake periods will be:
Applications are now open for the Queensland Mental Health Commission Sponsorship Program. This program provides one‑off sponsorship of up to $10,000 to support events that promote better mental health and wellbeing outcomes for Queenslanders. Funding is available for eligible conferences, workshops, exhibitions and community events that align with Shifting minds, Queensland’s mental health and suicide prevention strategy. Applications close: Friday 28 February 2026 Applications are now open for the REAL Innovation Fund, part of the Australian Government’s Reconnection, Employment and Learning (REAL) Program. The fund supports small‑scale, community‑led and innovative projects that create culturally safe pathways to employment for First Nations people leaving the justice system. Funding is available to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and First Nations‑led consortia through a two‑stage application process. Applications close: 9pm AEST, Monday 2 March 2026 Applications are now open for Queensland Youth Week Community Event Grants. These grants support young Queenslanders aged 12–25 to design and deliver youth‑led community events during Queensland Youth Week 2026. Funding of up to $10,000 is available per event to help showcase young people’s skills, creativity and contributions, with events required to align with key youth wellbeing and participation priorities. Applications close: 5pm AEST, Sunday 22 February 2026 Applications are now open for the Gambling Community Benefit Fund - Round 126. This round offers grants of up to $35,000 to support not‑for‑profit organisations delivering projects that benefit Queensland communities. Applicants are encouraged to check the GCBF guidelines to confirm eligibility and understand all requirements before applying.
