City Budget spotlight on our connected community
In response to your City Budget feedback we're prioritising transport improvements and tackling road congestion in 2023-24.
As our city population continues to grow, so will our transport services. The 2023–24 City Budget is investing $378 million this year in infrastructure, cycleways, roads, bridges and public transport.
The Gold Coast has 20 primary schools and two high schools in the City’s Active School Travel Program. An average of 32% of students now walk and cycle to school, saving over 4 million vehicle kilometres a year.
We’re allocating funds to our free bus travel for seniors and veterans initiative, with more than 47,000 senior and veteran cardholders taking one million free trips a year.
The City continues to fund the maintenance of the local road network. On average, we repair 17,000 potholes and reseal 31km of roads each year.
This budget delivers for all as we work to preserve our city's lifestyle.
