Robins Road Wastewater Upgrades Newsletter #2 | March 2026 The latest updates on our work along Robins Road to upgrade wastewater infrastructure, as part of our ongoing commitment to improve local infrastructure and ensure a clean and healthy environment for everyone. You’ll find information below on a slight delay to opening parts of Robins Road, and good news regarding pedestrian and cyclist improvements we’ve just added to the project. Robins Road will remain closed over Easter
Robins Road will need to remain closed over Easter Weekend. This is because over the last two weeks, crews have encountered issues with the equipment they use to create tunnels under the road surface for the new wastewater pipe to run through. We're now expecting the section of Robins Road between Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel and Hamilton Road will need to remain closed until mid/late April for crews to complete tunnelling work. We understand the current closure creates disruption for nearby residents, businesses, and other Robins Road users, and we apologise for this delay. We have investigated the ability to open the road temporarily over the long weekend. However, the work required to do this before closing the road again to continue tunnelling would significantly delay the date we can open Robins Road in the future, and would come with added safety risks too. Southbound lane to open in mid/late April
With the delays mentioned above, we’re now planning to open the southbound lane of Robins Road between Hamilton Road and Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel in mid/late April. The northbound lane will remain closed until we completely open Robins Road by Friday 3 July this year. Less noise expected from April
We're quickly nearing the end of the loudest work along Robins Road, as crews are close to finishing all sheet piling in the area. While there will still be some noise and vibration over the next few months, things should be a lot more peaceful along Robins Road from April. A big thank you to nearby residents and businesses in the area for your understanding. Extending the active travel footpath
Great news! While HEB is on site, we’ve awarded them work to greatly improve the footpath along the eastern side of Robins Road. They’ll now widen the footpath between Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel and the Horne Creek Bridge, extending the shared pathway that currently runs up to opposite Queenstown Primary School. Crews have already started work to widen the footpath at the northern end of the site. Once complete, this extra section of pathway will help to improve safety for school children and parents, pedestrians, and cyclists in the area. More information
