This month we celebrate International Women's Day, with a special panel discussion of inspiring women; Mala Mehta, Professor Kate Stevens, Melissa Ran. Together they will engage in a thought-provoking conversation exploring the theme of Embracing Equity. 

Need to know how to repair your bike, make a macrame pot hanger, explore hidden Sydney or join a sewing group? This month we have it all, and many more events to keep the family entertained.

Union Picnic Day is happening this Friday 10 March, and Carlingford, Constitution Hill, Dundas, Epping, Ermington and Wentworth Point libraries will be closed. However, Parramatta Library at PHIVE will remain open from 9am to 5pm.

Also a reminder, Ermington library will be closed for renovations from Monday 6 March until Saturday 25 March and re open on Monday 27 March 2023. Reservations can be collected at Dundas Library and library items can be returned to any of City of Parramatta Branch Libraries. All programs will be suspended during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience.

International Women's Day

To celebrate International Women's Day, we invite you to a special panel discussion on Wednesday 8 March. Our panellists will engage in a thought-provoking conversation exploring the theme of "Embracing Equity" and its intersection with innovation. Council events, which include movie showings, highlight a community of diverse women who #embraceequity within their own sphere of influence. Register now.

 

Autumn School Holiday Activities

Save the date! Registrations for school holiday activities will open on Monday 27 March at 9am and we have lots of awesome activities planned! You can experience the Apollo 11 mission first-hand with VR, attend a magic show with the talented Peter Wood, program a Microbit, create macramé earrings, and much more. All activities are free, so get it quick to grab your tickets.

 

Bower Bicycle Repair Workshop

Bring your bike along to a free bike repair workshop at Parramatta Library at PHIVE to get assistance from skilled bikeologists Stu and Othy! You will learn to keep your ride operating at premium performance levels and return home with your partly or fully repaired bike, and the skills and knowledge needed for future repairs!

Macramé Plant Hanger Workshop

Join us one of these fun and creative workshops to make your very own macramé plant hanger, which you can take home.

Author Talk 

Join author and local historian Trevor McAlister to learn about exploring hidden Sydney! Trevor highlights the buildings and sites in various areas throughout Sydney that will fascinate any Sydneysider!  Trevor will give insights into the history of Australia’s first and largest city.

Little Bang Discovery Club

Young children are natural scientists; curious and keen to discover the world around them! Join them up for this club (4 sessions in total) so they learn to make their own discoveries through enquiry methods that both children and parents will enjoy.

Meet and Sew

Meet and sew group is a social group that meets to share the love of sewing. Join our group to connect, meet new people and share the skills and knowledge of sewing with others. Attendees are welcome to bring along sewing, quilting, embroidery or other craft projects to work on or we will provide some materials for small projects. No sewing experience is required.

Books of the Month

This month we have a great selection of books to keep you entertained! You might like to read a moving and hilarious memoir of a millennial leaving his inner-city life to take over the family farm, or choose from many of the other non-fiction items.
