A New Look for Term 3

Dear valued member of the PLC community,

It was high time time for the old way we communicate to enjoy a freshen up, so we have broken our normal Links e-Newsletter into three separate
e-newsletters (Junior School Notices, Senior School Notices, and Boarding House News) and from now on, you will only receive the information relevant to you. All three notices will continue to be available to PLC families on the PLC App.

While we transition to these new communications, feel free to provide any feedback to cande@plc.wa.edu.au.

Welcome From Meredith Beer

Acting Head of Junior School

It has been delightful to have students back at School. I have heard about some of the students' holiday adventures and am looking forward to hearing many more recounts about the varied and exciting holiday experiences.

Important Information

Whole School Assembly

To start the term, on Tuesday our Years
1 – 6 students attended a Whole School Assembly. It was a wonderful way to start the semester. Congratulations to some of our new Semester 2 Leaders who showed courage and great confidence by speaking so well in front of a large audience. A reminder that on Friday 29 July, we will be inducting all of our Semester 2 Junior School Leaders.

New Music Building

Not only has it been a seamless start to the term with our pupils quickly and excitedly getting back to their learning programme, but the children have also been thrilled to see and use the new Music building. Class and peripatetic Music classes will be held in the new facility; however, some ensembles and choir rehearsals will be held in different venues. The Music Department will notify parents of their daughters' rehearsal venues.

Junior School Canteen Refurbishment

Another Junior School refurbishment has been extremely successful - this time in our canteen facility! Over the school holidays, the Junior School Canteen (soon to be named) received a complete refurbishment. This has transformed the area to function as a fresh-cook kitchen. Parents can also now purchase a hot drink from the new canteen, so please feel free to call in and visit, kindly remembering to sign in and out at Junior School Reception.

Inter-House Cross Country

The Inter-House Cross Country Carnival will take place this Friday at Alderbury Reserve from 12.00 pm – 3.00 pm. We welcome parents and guardians to attend to support students. Ms Tench, Junior School Sports Co-ordinator, would like to thank the many parents who have offered their support for the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival. We are grateful for our wonderful community members who have volunteered their time.

Festival of Science

To celebrate Science Week, the PLC Junior School is bringing back the Festival of Science on Wednesday 10 August! Junior School students will spend the day rotating through various science-based activities aimed to encourage an interest in Science. With this year's theme being 'glass', our little scientists will learn what makes certain types of glass invisible, build telescopes, create edible sugar glass biscuits, and much more. Parents are invited to volunteer for a number of these amazing activities. Click the button below to register your interest. Further details will be distributed closer to the event.
