We're looking for volunteers to join our Communications Committee to write blog posts, proofread communications, and help manage our social media presence. Book WormsThis month, in celebration of Women's History Month, we recommend reading Grandma Gatewood's Walk by Ben Montgomery. This book tells the incredible story of Emma Gatewood. Gatewood was the first person to hike the Appalachian Trail (AT) three times in the mid 20th century. She is a hiking legacy whose prominent criticism of parts of the AT led to its improved maintenance and its continued existence to this day. Do you have a book recommendation you'd like to share? Let us know at friends@fells.org! History HillIn 1959, the Interstate 93 was constructed and split the Fells into two parts. Interstate 93 was built as car culture became dominant in the United States. Areas in and surrounding the Fells were destroyed in order to accommodate the new highway and the thousands of cars for which it would provide passage. Stay tuned next month for more information about 93 in the Fells! Photo by Liane McCarthy Events CalendarWe have a full schedule of incredible guided events for you in March! Check them out below:
