It was the first time in our history we had over 1,000 households access our services in a single day. We expect this year to be even busier and we need your help now more than ever to ensure we can provide for those doing it tough. The cost of living crisis has seen record numbers of Western Australians ask for help - many for the first time. You hear stories about life turning upside down in an instant. Leah doesn’t just hear about it; she lives it. A motorcycle accident left her husband, Steve, with a brain injury, unable to work and their family in financial freefall. Medical bills mounted, the family business folded, and hungry mouths loomed. "We found ourselves in a perilous position of not meeting our bills, let alone putting food on the table," Leah said. Juggling finances was a tightrope Leah already walked with practiced steps. Caring for her two sons, the household budget, like many around the state, was always a balancing act. Add constant medical bills to support her son with level two autism and a chronic illness, and Leah was running out of options.
Supporting women facing hardshipImagine escaping abuse, only to face a new battle - hunger. Your pockets are empty and your stomach is growling. You have nowhere to go, no access to food or groceries and no way to cook it even if you did. This isn't fiction; it's the daily struggle of thousands of women. The stats speak for themselves:
This isn't just about food, it's about hope. Food insecurity is more than just an empty stomach. It's a barrier to opportunity, safety and hope. By offering regular and reliable access to food, women can plan for their future, not just their next meal. We help almost 600 households access food every day but demand is surging. We need a 60 per cent increase in fruit and vegetable donations just to keep up. For women escaping family or domestic violence, food is the first step towards stability. It provides room to breathe and the strength to plan for a brighter tomorrow. Let's rewrite this story. This isn't just an International Women's Day issue – it's a daily call to action, donate or volunteer with us. Together, we can turn empty fridges into hope.
More than volunteering, change lives with a Foodbank experiencePicture this: it's late on a Thursday night. Dianne, a single mom of two, stares at her empty fridge. School lunches sit packed, yet there's nothing to put inside them. That pang of worry – how will she feed her kids – twists in her stomach. This is where teams like yours step in. We're on the frontlines fighting hunger in Western Australia. Last year, we provided 9.2 million meals to people just like Dianne. But we can’t do this alone. Corporate volunteers are essential to making this happen. Every year, volunteers sort, prepare and pack food and groceries that feed 388,000 Western Australian households. Here’s how your company can make a real difference:
This isn't just about volunteering; it's about changing lives. Make a difference in the lives of Western Australians going without. Book your volunteering experience online today.
