Photo Credit: Ebru Yildiz The revolutionary writer and performer Neko Case continues to have a busy 2026 following a standout 2025 with the release of her New York Times bestselling memoir ‘The Harder The Fight, The More I Love You’ - which was named one of the best books of the year by Vulture, The Washington Post, The Globe, Apple and NPR - and her 8th studio album ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’, immediately deemed an essential work of her catalogue. Watch her recent discussion of her genre-spanning career on PBS’s
‘Overheard with Evan Smith’ HERE. One month later on April 18 Case is offering an exclusive 7" as a part of Record Store Day 2026 in tribute to her late friend and collaborator Dexter Romweber of Flat Duo Jets. It features a never-before-heard cover of Flat Duo Jets' "Cool Boys" as well as "Winchester Mansion of Sound" from ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green.’ Plagued with a sort of intuition about death, Case penned the later about two years before Romweber’s 2024 passing when she found herself worrying about him. As Case wrote in her recent memoir The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, the first time she heard Romweber’s pioneering psychobilly group, “something unlocked in her that day, the way making music could become a
physical manifestation of the blazing wild horse energy inside of her body.”
Praise for ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’: “The lauded artist's new album is a tribute to her late idols and to music at its most communal and authentic.” - Entertainment Weekly "It’s an album that
blossoms with awe ... Soundtracking Case’s words are windswept arrangements and contagious melodies where baritone guitar, violin swells, and steady percussion crumple up feelings of dread and anxiety." - Pitchfork “A thrill ride through shifting tones and tempos, anchored by her vivid imagery and titanic voice… on the “Neon Grey Midnight Green” album, Case was intent on inviting a large number of musicians to join her, and their power is evident.” - Associated Press “Fearless singer-songwriter calls it as she sees it in dramatic ninth solo outing.” “ ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’ ... ranks among her best ... colorful, detailed, unpredictable, and full. The fact that its fullness comes from musical collaboration makes it an even more rewarding listen.” - AV Club “She has cultivated one of the most distinctive voices in American song. Her albums unravel like musical picaresques: restlessly digressive, bluntly funny, strange — but never in ways you’d anticipate.” - Stereogum “Intimate and exhilaratingly 3D, with sounds springing up in unusual places, unexpectedly dimmed or boosted, or changing their nature, none of which breaks the spell.” - Uncut “A cinematic, lyrically rich, beautifully recorded collection of personal songs that blows the doors off
of the confines of genre in respect to what is "expected" of an artist. This album rests on zero laurels and is Neko Case through and through." - Tape Op TOUR DATES |
