Kia ora koutou,

Notice content to supplement the Organic Standards and Organic Products and Production Regulations

The third tranche of notice content is now out for public consultation; we are seeking your feedback on the proposed requirements relating to the Organic Management Plan (OMP) and export certification.

The topics covered in this tranche of Notice content are:

Requirements relating to the OMP:

  • Defining boundaries and layouts: [OPP Sched 3 cl 5]
  • Details of operator activities: producers and processors [OPP Sched 3 cl 4]
  • Details of operator activities: service providers [OPP Sched 3 cl 4]
  • General procedures [OPP Sched 3 cls 10 and 11]
  • Ingredients of processed products [OS Reg 143]
  • Assessment of imported products [OPP 121 and 122]
  • Corrective actions when breach of relevant export requirements [OPP Sched 3 cl 10(2)(b) and (c)]

Requirements relating to the application of export certification:

  • Official assurance application [OPP 124]
  • Statement of compliance application [OPP 125]

The proposed Notice content has been developed with input from subject matter experts and reviewed by MPI’s legal team. Work to develop an OMP template that can be adopted by operators is underway. Consultation on this template will be carried out later in 2026 to facilitate operators transitioning into the OPPA system.

The consultation document can be found here:

Consultation on this tranche closes on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
