In Focus – Update to our identification requirements The NDIS Worker Screening has had an update to our identification requirements, which are set out by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). The update will remove the requirement for a document showing an applicant’s current residential address to support their application. The updated requirements aim to:
Our Standard Proof of Identity Documents can be found on our website. How do you create a DoTDirect account? To create a DoTDirect account online, employees will need a WA driver's licence or learner's permit and a vehicle licence or registration. Alternatively, employees can register for an account in person at all Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) centre or regional Department of Transport (DoT) office with original primary and secondary proof of identity documents and a completed DoTDirect individual application form (Form E111A). For more information regarding registering for a DoTDirect account, please visit Log in and register with DoTDirect (transport.wa.gov.au) What are NDIS Check clearance holders obligations? Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Screening) Act 2020, NDIS Check holders are required to notify the NDIS Worker Screening Unit of any relevant change in their criminal record and any relevant change in their particulars (such as if they have changed employers or contact details, including their address). To update their details, NDIS Check holders will need to log into their DoTDirect account and select ‘Profile Details’ under the ‘NDIS’ heading. Have an NDIS Check question you would like answered? We are happy to help where we can, although we may need to refer you to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissions for matters that fall under their jurisdiction. Becoming a Child Safe Organisation: Resources and Support Available The Department of Communities has launched the Child Safe Organisations Knowledge Hub. The online platform brings together information and helpful resources about the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles) in one central place for Western Australians to access. Every organisation that provides services to children and young people, or where children and young people are present, has a responsibility to implement the National Principles to prevent abuse and harm to children within their organisation. Information specific to disability service providers is being developed is being developed and will be published on the knowledge hub. Explore the knowledge hub and sign up to the mailing list for updates at www.communities.wa.gov.au/childsafeorgs. To support community organisations to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, the WACOSS Child Safe Project will provide training and capacity-building opportunities throughout 2024 for staff and volunteers, to equip them with the knowledge and skills to create safe environments for children and young people.
