Senior School Notices

TERM 1 WEEK 4

From the Head of Senior School

Dear valued member of the PLC community,

    PLC Parents' Welcome Sundowner

On Friday, we enjoyed a lovely evening with our parents and guardians for the PLC Parents' Welcome Sundowner on the Quad. Guests were entertained by the beautiful voices of Class of 2022 graduates Insiah Riaz and Olivia Muir.

A very special thank you to Lizzie Marinko and the PLC Parents' Committee for organising this wonderful annual event.

    Lunar New Year

It was lovely to see so many parents attend our Senior School assembly last week. We were treated to two Guzheng musical performances – one by the inspiring Alyssa Lam (Year 4) who performed Havana, followed by an incredible performance of Libertango by Ms Xueyan Chen who is joining PLC to teach Guzheng.

    Lunchtime Activities

We have lots of activities at lunchtime for our students to be involved in and we hope that this has helped our students (particularly our new Year 7s) settle into the Senior School. Every Monday and Wednesday, our International Baccalaureate (IB) students have been running activities in the Hugh Baird Sports Centre for our younger students. We have a number of clubs running for our Year 7 students such as the Charity Knitting Club, Each For Equal Committee, and Environmental Committee for your daughter to be involved in.

This week, we have also had our Junior School/Senior School Prefect, Denby Shephard, make connections across the Senior School through a friendly House Benchgame competition. This week our students in Years 7, 9, and 11 have joined forces to compete for their House, and next week we will have Years 8, 10, and 12 compete before finals begin. May the best House win!

Expressions of Interest –Cottesloe Bus Route

We are working on a number of measures to ensure our students' safety with regard to the safe crossing at Stirling Highway near McNeil Street.

One solution we are looking into is an additional bus service in the afternoon taking students from PLC into Cottesloe.

Roll-out of this new route will be strengthened by the number of students prepared to use this service.

Please click this link to view the route and then click the button below to take the short survey to register your interest.

As technology continues to evolve and shape our world, it has never been more important to understand what role technology will play in the workforce students will enter after graduation. This Women in Technology Evening will feature female speakers from various industries, sharing their experiences and knowledge from their careers to date. This will be a valuable opportunity for students to ask questions and gain insight into what it takes to build a successful career.

This event is open to all year groups. It will be a fascinating and inspirational evening, well suited to students who are already interested in technology as well as students who aren’t sure what “jobs in tech” might mean, now and in the future.
