Junior School NoticesTERM 4 WEEK 6Dear valued member of the PLC community, Another week has simply whizzed by as we prepare for the end of the year while we also look forward to welcoming new families and students to Orientation Day on Friday 18 November. The last few weeks of term are a busy time as our Pre-Primary students work hard to prepare for their Nativity performance, the Year 6 students their final assembly, and Suzuki Strings their Christmas concert. We are also preparing for the future, with our Orientation Day giving pupils in Kindergarten to Year 5 the opportunity to visit their new classrooms and make connections with those children joining PLC in 2023. It is an interesting juxtaposition for students which can be both exciting and unsettling as familiar routines change as we get ready to close one year, but welcome another. As there may be disruptions to the normal timetable over the following weeks, our teachers will keep parents informed about any alterations via Seesaw or the PLC App. Remembrance DayLast Friday, we commemorated Remembrance Day with a moving whole school service organised by our Junior School students and staff. It was lovely to see the whole school come together to reflect on and remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts. Meredith Beer Important InformationHealth ReminderWe have seen an increase in flu-like symptoms at school and remind families and students to please stay at home if unwell. Claire EatonAfter Orientation Day has concluded, the students in Years 4, 5, and 6 will go to the Senior School Auditorium between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm to listen to a presentation by Claire Eaton. Claire will be sharing her thoughts and practical strategies around friendships. I know that both the students and parents gained some excellent tips and ideas from her around transitioning to Senior School, so I am sure that this session will be equally as valuable. Holiday ProgrammeThe next PLC Holiday Programme will run Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, and Friday 20 January from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm at $50 per day. Some excellent community partnerships will deliver the sessions including Fremantle Football Club and Perth Scorchers (with current players), K2 Dance, Netball WA, Aspire Tennis, Mark Lee Football Club, Hockey (current Olympian), and MBA Sports. Each day is unique, with students covering four different sports sessions each day. This is open to female students from Pre-Primary to Year 7 from any school, so book now to secure your spot! And don't forget to tell your friends. Community Carols
