Children's Book Week Costume Competition
There’s a buzz in our libraries- they are full of people reading, learning, working, relaxing and discovering everything Connected Libraries has to offer!
August is shaping up to be a big month, with exciting programs and events for all ages.
Of course, we are celebrating… it’s Children's Book Week and Science Week this month!
Along with our team donning costumes of their favourite book characters, there is an author visit, a costume competition and an awesome science show that the kids will love.
Throughout August selected libraries are collecting for ‘Share the Dignity’ – please drop off period product donations at any of our branches to help support women who are doing it tough.
The Australian census falls on Tuesday 11 August. If you need help completing the census, we have one-on-one Tech Times available with our library staff. You'll need to book a spot so get in quick.

Book Week Costume Competition Opens Saturday 22 August
Show us your best Book Week outfits and enter our Book Week Costume Competition to be in with the chance to win one of three book packs.
This is how you enter:
Take a photo of your child in their 2026 Book Week costume
Between Saturday 22 August and Saturday 28 August, visit our Facebook page and find the official competition post (we will pin it to the top!)
Comment on the post with your photo, your child’s first name, age and the book character they’re dressed as.
That’s it! Your child will be entered into the draw to win one of three book packs.
Entries open: Saturday 22 August at 9am
Entries close: Saturday 28 August at 4pm
National Science Week
To celebrate National Science Week, join us as we get Scientwisted with a fabulous science show.
Fun, laughter, a little bit of learning and plenty of science!

During Science Week our Storytimes and after-school programs will take on a special science theme.
Book Week: Maestro Flipper with Carp ProductionsDrum roll, please…. for Maestro Flipper, our Penguin Conductor. With a flick of his baton, his Symphony of Stories will have you tapping to the beat, bopping, and calling out “Bravo!” Watching the Book Week books come to life will be music to your ears. 
Book Week: Story Sparks with Stef GemmillAuthor of award-winning picture book, A Home for Luna, Stef Gemmill will deliver an interactive author talk. Through characters, themes, and key story moments, participants will discover how their own experiences can inspire creative writing. The session also includes a fun "Five Senses" story seed workshop, making it an entertaining experience for all. 📌Bunjil Place Library 
Free Food, Fellowship and Fun for Fellas!The Forum for Men & Fathers is a free event for men aged 16 years and over. Enjoy a delicious free meal and an evening focused on wellbeing, relationships, connection and fatherhood. Hear from speakers and be part of important conversations that help strengthen families and communities. 📌 Online |
