Updates on Competence by Design (CBD)

Royal College confirms 2020 Launch Programs
We have received confirmation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) that the following programs will launch CBD in July 2020:

  • Cardiology (adult and peds)
  • General Surgery
  • Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Neurology (adult and peds)
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Psychiatry
  • Respirology (adult and peds)

Competence by Design Innovators
Each week, the Royal College profiles a new CBD Innovator from various disciplines and schools that are implementing Competence by Design. A couple of our very own innovators have been featured in this online publication!

TLEF Project Awards 2019/20

McCalla Professorships 2020-21

The Office of Education, FoMD is accepting proposal submissions  for the 2020-21 McCalla Professorships. FoMD has been allocated one award for this cycle, and the deadline for submissions is January 31, 2020. Learn more

 

Fall Convocation 2019 marked the receipt of the Governor General's Gold Medal for 2019/20 for two FoMD Graduate Students.

We are also very proud of Dr. Pamela Brett-MacLean, Director of the Arts & Humanities in Health & Medicine (AHHM) Program, who has been honoured by a named award, the "Peterkin Brett-MacLean Prize" by the Canadian Association for Health Humanities, supported by an anonymous donor. This prize recognizes the outstanding achievement of a student, resident or fellow in relation to their contribution to CAHH's annual meeting, Creating Space (see more).  In recognition of her many contributions to the field of medical/health humanities in Canada, Dr. Brett-MacLean also received a Canadian Association for Health Humanities Award of Achievement, & Honorary Lifetime Membership earlier this year.

Congratulations go to our graduate students, supervisors and Dr. Brett-MacLean!
