NEERO 2022: Submissions OverviewNEERO received more than 120 roundtable, paper, poster, and symposium submissions for the NEERO 2022 Conference. Submissions were received from 11 states and 2 countries, including Connecticut, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Submissions were authored by education researchers, faculty, K12 practitioners, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Thanks to those who are currently reviewing NEERO 2022 submissions! Decisions will be shared with contact authors on December 17, 2021. NEERO will follow health and safety guidelines for the in-person conference. All NEERO 2022 conference attendees will be required to confirm vaccination status or negative COVID-19 test results prior to attending the in-person conference. More details to follow. NEERO December Circle: Closing The K-12 Research-Practice Gap Closing the Research-Practice Gap Date/Time: Friday, December 3, 2021, 12:00 - 1:00pm EST Facilitator: Bryan Mascio (Plymouth State University, NH State Representative) Want to help close the K-12 research-practice gap in education? Join us for a facilitated discussion on strategies to use research itself to help bridge this gap – what’s “counted” as research, how different methods work, what are opportunities for implementation, and what venues exist or can be developed for professional sharing? The NEERO Circles committee is planning a virtual panel for recently published book authors (last year or two) in January. This Circle would be an opportunity to share your work and engage with other authors in the NEERO community. If interested in participating, please send an email to Christine Clayton (Pace University, NEERO Teaching and Teacher Education Strand Director) at cclayton@pace.edu by Friday, December 10, with the following information: your name, who would participate on the panel (especially if multiple authors), your book title (citation), and a brief summary. NEERO Awards: Call for Nominations Call for NEERO 2022 Award Nominations NEERO is currently seeking nominations for the following awards: Kim Fries Award: Established in 2012 in memory of Dr. Kim Fries, the purpose of this award is to recognize the work of NEERO members who have demonstrated distinction in the early part of their professional careers. Nominations are due: February 1, 2022. John Schmitt Award: This award is presented for outstanding research at the graduate level. Nominations are due February 1, 2022. All NEERO members have been sent an electronic ballot via email. This election is to certify Board members who have been nominated by the Board since October 2020.
