An Update from Jo Yay for daylight saving and the real feeling of spring! We hope you are all enjoying the longer evenings and a bit more Vitamin D. It seems that October also begins the countdown to the end of the year and some of our Christmas stock starting to arrive! We now have 2024 Astrovision Calenders, Pukka Tea Advent Calenders and Pukka Selection Boxes instore. Gratitude Dairies and their new gratitude calenders and astro dairies are not too far away. Our monthly workshop series has been so well received we have decided to continue on with two more this year. On Saturday October 28th we will have Clare Paterson a Clinical Nutritionist here to talk about Weightloss and Menopause. Our article below highlights some of the things she will cover and how to book. I am sure this will be a popular topic and spaces are limited. Then on Saturday November 4th Gilly and I will run the workshop we held a few weeks ago again. The format will change slightly for this "Tapping into Colour" workshop which will cover the intuitive tapping process a bit more fully and go over the gemstone chakra elixir info again for those who missed it last time. You can reply to this email to book for this. Gilly will also be in store on Thursday 19th and 26th of October offering Intuitive Illumination sessions. This is a mix of the Intuitive Tapping process, gemstone chakra elixirs, intuition, and oracle cards to help you receive the clarity and lightness you require. 30 minute sessions are $77, or one hour sessions $135. You can book directly with Gilly gillygodward@outlook.co.nz or to read more about Gilly www.gillygodward.com This month I wanted to cover a couple of Homeobotanicals to support energy and as with all homeobotanicals they can be blended with others in the range and taken alongside most medications and supplements. By Clare Paterson - Registered Clinical Nutritionist By 2030, the world population of menopausal and postmenopausal women is projected to increase to 1.2 billion, with 47 million new entrants each year. With these statistics you would think all sectors of society including places of work, HR departments, bosses, husbands, families, friends, everyone would have quality information at hand to help prepare everyone with what to expect during this stage of life, which can last for at least a quarter of a woman’s lifespan if not longer. Until recently menopause recognition and acceptance has remained taboo with women having to struggle alone. When you compare this to puberty being at the opposite end of the reproductive cycle, where a teenage girl's often erratic behaviour is understood and accepted as part of their development; pregnancy is clearly accepted and incorporated into everyday life including maternity leave. Yet once menopause hits, where woman can feel like they're losing their mind, mojo, and no longer able to cope, there are few places to turn with recognition and acceptance poor. To make it worse, recent medical advice is contradictory regarding HRT and methods looking to help manage menopause. Symptoms vary hugely for each individual and can be extremely debilitating for some radically altering a woman’s life; while other women appear to sail through unscathed. Unfair..?? Absolutely! One of the biggest issues I find with clients who want to lose weight particularly from early to mid 40’s onwards, is that symptoms, particularly weight gain, begin long before actual menopause has begun. Menopause is the cessation of menses for 12 months, so it is the lead up to this, known as peri-menopause, which can begin up to 10 years prior where many of these issues begin. While weight is the tangible effect every woman can see, there are often other issues affecting their life that perhaps aren’t as recognised or often just associated with aging. Many of you have questions around menopause like: WHY am I struggling to lose weight? How come I eat less but still keep putting on weight? WHY do I exercise insanely, eat nothing and still cannot stop putting on weight even though I am eating nearly nothing? I haven’t changed anything I eat for years and now I struggle with gut issues, skin disorders, IBS etc plus weight issues when I never used to. Why do I get injured more? Why can I no longer handle day to day stress like I used to? Anxiety is ruling my life. I am just so tired… Everything aches… I feel like I am losing my mind!! I will be holding a 90 minute talk at the Bethlehem Health Shop on Saturday 28th October at 3.30pm which will answer these questions, and I will also go over some good nutrition options and lifestyle factors that can support this stage of life helping to ease your way into menopause and post-menopause. The cost for this is $15, contact me to book on paterson.clare@gmail.com. It’s always a n-ice day with these icy cold, immune bolstering Berry Immune Choc Tops around.
