In our ongoing battle against hunger in Oregon, the need for solidarity and action has never been greater. At Lift UP, the increasing numbers of people we serve – a 113% rise in shoppers at Preston's Pantry and an 86% increase in our Delivered Food Box program since 2016 – are a call to action for us all. 

This is why we value partners in our community who work alongside us to keep up with the need. Recently we had a Mandarin cultural inclusion training in partnership with William Temple House. This initiative, aimed at understanding the challenges faced by our non-English speaking neighbors, was an enlightening and humbling experience.

Volunteers experienced the entire shopping experience–from checking in to pantry shopping -- in Mandrin. As expressed by CaSaundra Johnson, Lift UP Development Manager, "The training allowed us to step into the shoes of those we serve, deepening our understanding of our programs and services from the client's perspective."
