Junior School NoticesTerm 2 Week 5
Dear valued member of the PLC community, Buenos dias, bonjour, ni hao, buongiorno, apa kabar, guten tag, goei dag, bom dia, gode dag, and g’day... This week, we have been celebrating Languages Week!
Language B or Languages WeekOur Junior School is extremely fortunate to be immersed in different languages here at PLC. In fact, the daily French lessons in our Early Years was a real stand-out feature for me when I arrived. Our comprehensive Language B programme also offers French and Chinese for Year 3 students. Additionally, we offer a Chinese Background Extension class to cater for our students with Chinese backgrounds, as well as a weekly Mandarin Cultural Club for students from Kindergarten to Year 2.
This week, our Language B staff have planned some amazing activities to highlight the linguistic diversity in our community, and celebrate the work of our language students and teachers. Students have enjoyed playing the French and Chinese versions of Duck Duck Goose, participating in The Voice (an international singing competition – PLC style), making Chinese Peking Opera masks, and taking a French Crêpes cooking class. They will finish off the week with an International Disco. Thank you to all our wonderful staff from the Languages Department for providing such a diverse and exciting range of activities for our girls this week. In addition to showcasing the diversity within our community, it has been a fun and engaging way for students to
further develop the language skills we teach at PLC.
Year 5 Assembly –
Wheel of WellbeingI must congratulate our Year 5 students and their teachers, Ms Anita Roy, Ms Andrea Sofield, and Ms Aleasha Franetovich, for such an entertaining and insightful performance on how important wellbeing is in someone's daily life. The students used humour in the context of a game show to demonstrate the importance of living a balanced life full of kindness, gratitude, and exercise.
Kindergarten visit
Petting ZooOur Kindergarten students had a wonderful time at the Petting Zoo last Friday. With sheep, goats, chickens, and guinea pigs, students displayed the learner profile attributes principled, courageous, and caring, whilst holding and petting these lovely animals.
Year 6 Winter GamesCongratulations to all of our Year 6 students who competed in the first fixture of their Winter Games competition on Friday. PLC fields two teams at soccer, netball, and basketball and it was great to see the skill, effort, and enthusiasm on display across all sports. Students will be back at training for the next couple of weeks, where they will work hard on their individual skills and team play, prior to their next fixture on Friday 9 June. We wish all teams good luck and thank all coaches and students for their involvement.
Have a great week!
Passez une bonne semaine! Zhù nǐ dùguò yúkuài de yīzhōu! Kind regards, Geraldine Drabble

I have often wondered about what it is that defines us in the eyes of others. We all have a fair idea about who we are and where we fit in the scheme of things, but ultimately it is the perception of others about us that gives a much clearer idea of the true reality, even if it is uncomfortable or unpleasant.
