Click here 15 June 2023Cr Karen Pensabene, Mayor of Strathfield Hi Strathfield, At our Ordinary Council meeting last week, Council has resolved to work with other Sydney Councils as we begin leading a reform agenda on waste. This agenda aims to reduce waste and improve environmental outcomes where waste must be processed. We strongly believe this is an important initiative as Councils have a key role to play in the reduction of waste and its overall impact on the environment. Taking into consideration the wellbeing of our residents, Council has strongly opposed the approval of poker machines being installed at the Strathfield Town Centre. Council will also write to the Premier of NSW and relevant Ministers in relation to this matter. In support of our local economy, Council will prepare a report outlining options for activating public spaces in the Homebush West Shopping Centre. I’m excited to announce Council is looking to host a FIFA Women’s World Cup live site at Strathfield Square to screen matches featuring the Australian National Team. This is pending licencing approval from Optus so stay tuned! As always, please contact me with any of your council requests or news on cr.kpensabene@strathfield.nsw.gov.au 10 days left to visit the Net calls Net, Weave calls Wave exhibition! PROJECT UPDATE Homebush West Car Park Upgrade The Homebush West Car Park Upgrade was delivered by Council over three months from February to May. The upgrade included installation of a public Exeloo toilet unit and the car park being re-line marked with supporting ancillary works. The new line marking was completed to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety in the car park by creating a shared environment, forming part of the High Pedestrian Activity Area scheme to be implemented in the Homebush West Town Centre. The primary works consisted of widening the former 2.2m-wide parking spaces to 2.4m for improved vehicle access, and introducing a new marked pedestrian path to allow for easy pedestrian access. Further works included new dedicated motorcycle parking spaces, truck parking spaces and a disabled parking space. Thank you to all teams within Council who helped to finalise this upgrade!
