North West Advanced Practice Leads Workshop – September 2025

The North West Faculty for Advancing Practice hosted a successful Advanced Practice (AP) Leads Workshop this September at the Indigo Building, Maghull Park. The event brought together regional AP leads to collaborate on two key areas identified for development:

  • Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) Time for Advanced Practitioners

  • Strengthening Supervision Governance

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in insightful discussions and shared best practices. Key actions emerging from the workshop included:

  • Reviewing local supervision governance frameworks

  • Monitoring and mapping training undertaken by supervisors

  • Evaluating organisational governance for Advanced Practice and securing executive-level support

The workshop fostered a strong sense of shared purpose, leaving participants feeling reassured and motivated to drive forward the Advanced Practice agenda within their organisations.

Trainee Advanced Practitioners - Have Your Say: Complete the National Education and Training Survey (NETS)!

NHS England is committed to enhancing the quality of education and training for over 250,000 learners and trainees across a variety of clinical roles in the NHS. To support continuous improvement, we conduct the National Education and Training Survey (NETS) each year, offering a platform for healthcare learners and trainees to share their experiences and shape the future of healthcare education.

Since 2019, NETS has been the only national survey open to all healthcare students, trainees, and apprentices. The survey covers key themes like induction, clinical supervision, facilities, learning opportunities, and teamwork.

Your feedback helps us make informed decisions to enhance learning environments, support retention and recruitment.

You can access the survey here. or by scanning the QR code in the poster attached.

Take 10 minutes to share your experiences! The survey is open from Tuesday 7 October to Tuesday 2 December 2025.

10 year workforce plan – call for evidence launched

A call for evidence was launched on the 26th  September, to run for 6 weeks and closing on 7 November, asking NHS partners and stakeholders to support the development of the 10 Year Workforce Plan.

This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the plan’s development as we look to understand how we will bring through sufficient numbers of people, with the skills the NHS will need, in a reformed system that has delivered the three shifts set out in the 10 Year Health Plan.

We are asking for examples of best practice and innovation that can be scaled to meet the 10 Year Health Plan ambitions, as well as feedback on our research and modelling.

This plan aims to create a sustainable workforce that is fit for the future, ensuring the NHS has the right people, in the right roles, with the right skills, so that every patient receives world-class care whenever they need it. It will support staff to work flexibly, grow their skills, and feel fulfilment in their careers.

We need your insight and expertise to ensure this work is robust and evidence based. Together we can create a workforce plan that empowers staff, delivers world-class care, and secures the future of the NHS for decades to come.
