Monster Hunter Alien Files: First Contact - eARC

Praise for Larry Correia’s Monster Hunter series:
“[A] no-holds-barred all-out page turner that is part science fiction, part horror, and an absolute blast to read.”
—Bookreporter.com

“If you love monsters and action, you’ll love this book. If you love guns, you’ll love this book. If you love fantasy, and especially horror fantasy, you’ll love this book.” —Knotclan.com

“A gun person who likes science fiction—or, heck, anyone who likes science fiction—will enjoy [these books]… The plotting is excellent, and Correia makes you care about the characters…I read both books without putting them down except for work…so whaddaya waitin’ for? New Foes, New Government Conspiracies!

Peter Peterson thought his most dangerous job was reverse-engineering foreign missiles for the U.S. government—until the lady of Grayson Lake tried to turn him into a late-night snack. After surviving his first brush with the supernatural, he is recruited by Monster Hunter International and gets pulled into an organization so deep in the U.S. government that it will never be disclosed. Its mission: protect humanity from alien invaders.

For centuries, hostile visitors from across the stars have been sneaking to Earth in waves, building secret colonies, running abduction schemes, and occasionally trying to remake the planet for their own species. While Congress holds hearings with whistleblowers and expert witnesses, very real counter-alien operations are being run out of the Pentagon and through undisclosed locations in New England.

Armed with his engineering brain, a stack of dog-eared case files from retiring alien-hunter Martin Dreyfus, and a squad of eclectic and very dangerous hunters, Pete Peterson is about to discover just how deep the rabbit hole of flying saucers, cover stories, and government turf wars really goes. From the “real” truth behind Roswell to Biblical-era monster hunters facing aliens in Babylon, every page of Dreyfus’s diary points to one conclusion: the aliens aren’t done with Earth.

Praise for Charles E. Gannon:
“Chuck Gannon writes the kind of science fiction we all grew up on: rousing, mind-expanding, pulse-pounding sagas of spaceships and aliens. He’s a terrific writer, and we’re lucky to have him.” —Robert J. Sawyer

“[A] strong [writer of]…military SF…[much] action going on in his work, with a lot of physics behind it. There is a real sense of the urgency of war and the sacrifices it demands.” —Locus

Praise for Compton Crook Award-winner for best first novel Fire with Fire:
“Chuck Gannon is one of those marvelous finds—someone as comfortable with characters as he is with technology, and equally adept at providing those characters with problems to solve. Imaginative, fun, and not afraid to step on the occasional toe or gore the occasional sacred cow, his stories do not disappoint.” —David Weber

Earth struggles to define and protect itself in the wake of alien invasion!

September 9, 2121 AD. After the failed invasion of Earth, word arrives that the Arat Kur have been defeated in their home system. For two years, humanity watched the skies, fearing that the exosapients might return.

Even before they attacked, Earth was reeling from unprecedented shocks. Caine Riordan revealed the discovery of alien ruins, the exosapient Accord contacted Earth, and the resulting multi-speciate Convocation became the pretext for invasion. All in six months.

But rather than bringing relief, the news of victory releases a hot surge of suppressed conflicts, grudges, and greed which, together, might accomplish what an alien invasion could not: the destruction of the fledgling Consolidated Terran Republic.

Two old war heroes—Ira Silverstein and David Weber—grudgingly answer the call to prevent that outcome. The first item on their agenda: investigate and defang the militant factions using post-war resentments and bigotry to advance their own agendas. And the pair certainly have their work cut out for them as they navigate the CTR’s seething tsunamis of change. Smoldering beneath Earth’s facade of unified purpose, old embers of hatred, distrust, and injustice flare.
