Together We Can

Libraries change lives everyday and as proud participants of the Cardinia Together We Can initiative to stop, prevent and end family violence, we work alongside many other important services to help people live better.

Last week our staff participated in the Together We Can Community Leadership Summit, providing a wonderful opportunity to share the work that is taking place across our libraries in this space.

Casey Cardinia Libraries offer a range services for people seeking support, including service provider information, food and hygiene care packs, escape bags, free access to computers and WiFi as well as safe, welcoming and warm spaces to connect with others.

Collectively, we can make a difference, we encourage all people to stand up and say NO to family violence.

If you or a loved one need immediate support, please call 1800 RESPECT.

Endeavour Hills Library Upgrade

Endeavour Hills library is getting an upgrade with thanks to the City of Casey and the State Goverment Living Libraries Infrastructure Program grant.

Collectively, $90,000 is being contributed to bring our well loved library space to life!

With construction beginning in June this year and due for completion in December, the works will include a purpose fit and modernised service desk, a dedicated study and meeting room, improved lounge and reading spaces and increased accessibility for all.

Public libraries are essential to strong and resilient communities. Through this project we will be able to enrich experiences, connect people together and create flexible working and programming spaces which meet multi-generational needs, benefiting Casey residents for future generations.

Home Delivery comes to an end

All good things must come to an end and we will take our last Home Delivery order on Thursday 23 June.

A massive $19,304 was donated by our community to provide support, which was a lifeline to many during ongoing lockdowns.

This helped us to deliver 18 HIPPOS worth of books to homes all over Casey and Cardinia. How Incredible is that!

Thank-you for your support, we couldn't have done it without you.

Join Manu Kailom, an author and LGBTQIA+ peer support worker, as he discusses his experiences as a refugee and his work with Many Coloured Sky, including the creation of the Freedom Is Mine exhibition.

Freedom Is Mine is on display in the Bunjil Place Library art space from 31 May to 26 June. Refugee Week Storytime- Bunjil Place Library

Join us for a special storytime at Bunjil Place Library in acknowledgement of Refugee Week 2022.

In the spirit of this year's theme: Healing, we will be hearing from storyteller and advocate Manu Kailom whose personal story of asylum has been lovingly turned into a picture story that incorporates significant imagery from his homeland of West Papua.

Manu has contributed so much to supporting asylum seekers in Australia, especially those escaping discriminatory practices against LGBTQIA+ peoples. His story is one of sadness but also hope.

Storytime followed by Q and A,

Emerald Library is now open

After several weeks of service delivery from the Emerald Hills Hub, we are very pleased to announce that our Emerald library has re-opened and is bigger and better than ever.

We are grateful to Cardinia Shire Council and State Government Victoria who have helped us to fund a library space that will benefit the community for years to come.

We were delighted to open our doors on Friday 13 May, and welcomed back our community to the beautiful and expanded children's area, a purpose fit study room with lots of space for people to gather work and learn as well as some comfy places to lounge and read.

Next time you are visiting the Hills drop in for a visit, we look forward to seeing you!
