NDIS Check Prosecution Outcome

Bunbury NDIS worker pleads guilty to working while excluded (www.wa.gov.au)

A recent NDIS Worker Screening compliance investigation has led to a prosecution in the Bunbury Magistrates Court. The accused was fined $16,000 and ordered to pay an additional $2,000 in court cost for continuing to engage in a risk assessed role while subject to an NDIS Check exclusion.

What can registered NDIS providers do?

Registered NDIS providers are reminded to ensure all workers engaged in risk assessed roles hold a valid NDIS Check clearance. It is important to 'link' your workers to your organisation in the NDIS Worker Screening Database to ensure you are alerted to any changes in NDIS Check status.

The NDIS Worker Screening Unit’s Compliance Team carry out proactive compliance activities and investigations to make sure all workers are doing the right thing when it comes to NDIS Checks.

If you have information that may be relevant to our Compliance Team, you can contact the NDIS Worker Screening Unit on 1800 225 558 or send an email to NDISCheck@communities.wa.gov.au
