Click here A selection of news, resources and opportunities for action and advocacy around women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health February 2022PMNCH work-planning retreat1-2 February ¦ Virtual More than 40 leaders from PMNCH working groups, committees and constituencies joined together for a two-day retreat, 1-2 February 2022, to shape PMNCH’s 2022-23 work plan. The highly participatory retreat benefitted from the recent PMNCH governance reform process: representatives from all PMNCH structures, including youth representatives, took part in this joint planning and dialogue process. The retreat will be followed by constituency consultations and a presentation of the final plan to the PMNCH Executive Committee for approval on 22 February.A summary of the work-planning retreat, background papers and resources are available here.This month, I’m proud to spotlight UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, a founding partner of PMNCH and a member of the UN Agencies Constituency since 2005. UNFPA is also a global leader in the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM), which harms 3 million girls annually.UNFPA is co-leading the Action Coalition on Bodily Autonomy and Sexual. Reproductive Health and Rights of the Generation Equality Forum and is committed to empowering communities through consensus-building and collective public abandonment of the practice of FGM. PMNCH joins hands with UNFPA as a member of the Action Coalition and is committed to equipping national stakeholders from its ten constituencies with advocacy tools and resources to mobilize governments to make financial and policy commitments to advance PMNCH’s COVID-19 Call to Action. This report – the largest of its kind to date – draws on the experiences of over 8,500 women and 300 health professionals across eight countries. It exposes the aggressive marketing practices used by the formula milk industry and the impact on babies and young children. The report calls for a whole-of-society response and outlines opportunities for action.There will be two events to accommodate different time zones.
