The Principal, Council and St Andrew’s College community honour the life of Dr Neville Gibson Japp (Fr 1952) who passed away in Hay on 28 May 2024.
Neville was born on 7 December 1934 in Hay, in the NSW Riverina region. His father was a chemist, and his family owned the town pharmacy. Neville attended Hay War Memorial High School, where he
represented the school in cricket, tennis and football.
In 1952, he commenced his studies in Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney and graduated in 1958. He resided at St Andrew's College throughout these years.
During his time in College, he was heavily involved in cricket and tennis, captaining the tennis team in 1956. In 1957, he
took on the role of Education Sub-Committee 'examiner'.
He had a lifelong career as a highly respected veterinarian, and was an inspiring mentor for those starting out in the field. Raising his large family mainly in Mildura, Neville dedicated his life to the health of animals and his local community. He received life membership to Mildura Harness Racing Club in 2017.
He was farewelled at his funeral in Mildura on 6 June 2024.
The Japp family is held warmly in our thoughts and our deepest sympathy is extended to all who knew Neville.
