Recreation team updateWe're always looking to improve our communication channels with our clubs and recreation groups. This newsletter provides the latest news, events, grants and club development information and ensures you do not miss important information for your club. We also encourage you to visit our Club Hub website for all sports club information and resources. If you have any questions, please contact our Bayside City Council Recreation Development Officers, Alan Webb and Ebony Oliver. This Girl Can Week Bayside Fair Access Policy and Action Plan aims to eliminate the inequities of getting more women and girls moving, playing sport and getting active. Only 27% of Victorians believe women are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in any sport (Change Our Game 2024). 41% of Victorian women feel too embarrassed to exercise in public (VicHealth 2019). We're supporting the Victorian Government's This Girl Can campaign from 10 to 17 November to showcase opportunities for women and girls to get active in Bayside. Help your club level the playing fieldThe Fair Access Policy and Action Plan requires all Council community sporting and recreation facilities to be made available for everyone. Ultimately, this means that everyone in Bayside, should have fair and reasonable access to the ‘best’ training and game times, to social and change room facilities and the ability to feel safe whilst being active around Bayside. Success of all clubs and teams is what we are all striving for. Action Plan Development & Gender Equity Training Sessions:

Grant updateBayside City Council has recently been successful in obtaining Play Well (Stream 2) grant funding from the Australian Sports Commission. This grant will fund a series of come and try sessions across a number of popular sports. While the sessions are available to all young people in Bayside, our promotion and communications strategy will aim to reach families and children from low SES cohorts of our community, as they face significant financial barriers to participation in sport. Grant funding can assist with registration fees, uniform costs and more. We will be providing more information over the next couple of months.
